Troy Lucas
Paintings Conservator

Troy Lucas
A specialist in conservation and restoration of paintings on all types of media, Troy is seen here with one of his projects "The Portland Rose" circa 1911, by Théodore Gégoux (1850-1931).

Troy learned painting conservation from his father Jack Lucas, arguably one of the finest conservators the Northwest has ever produced.  The State of Oregon is grateful for Jack's work on the "The Inception of the Birth of Oregon", 1920, also by the artist Gégoux, which is exhibited in the Visitors Center at Champoeg State Park.

Troy studied for four years with his father, then apprenticed for another three years, and then interned for three more years.  At the end of this ten year course of study and internship, Jack Lucas considered his son a conservator in his own right.  Since his father's death several years ago, Troy Lucas has continued the family tradition of excellence in painting conservation.
