     In a letter Himes to Gegoux August 6, 1919, Mr. Himes writes, "...By the way I saw your portrait of Mr. Dye, Oregon City, not long ago.  It certainly is a fine portrait.  I regret to say that you did not do as well by any means in painting the Madam's portrait.  Of course there is a difference in people..."
