Au Sable Chasm  -  as it looks today.  The Ausable River flows from the Adirondack Mountains of eastern New York into Lake Champlain.  The Chasm has been created over the last 500 million years.  It has massive stone formations sculpted by nature.  The last 20 miles of the river has cut a chasm into the rocks and many beautiful rock falls and water falls were created.  The river also cuts the front of White Face Mountain near Wilmington, NY.  The result is a series of falls known as High Falls Gorge.  High Falls Gorge as it looks today.  The High Falls Gorge website contains many interesting attractions in the Lake Placid vicinity.
