April 28, 1920.
Mr. Theo. Gegoux, Aurora, Oregon, Dear Mr. Gegoux: Your letter received, and the second letter, enclosing the typewritten article, also, with your "O.K." thereon. I made a few slight changes in, improving the expression, as I think, and it is in the printer's hands. I'll not print more than 500 just now, as you may not like the Heading that I have put on. That is in these words: "Theo. Gegoux, Artist." On the leaflets that will be circulated on the ground on next Saturday, there will be these words: Visit Gallery in Memorial Building and see the Great Historical Painting "The Birth of Oregon's Civil Government" Theo. Gegoux, Artist. Admission, 25 cents. The stove is all right for coffee. I thought the use of your stove by picnickers might annoy you. There will be $40.00 more for you I am to get $100.00, now if this is not satisfactory to you do not hesitate a minute in saying so. I propose to please you if I can. As to getting an article in the papers - - the Oregonian for instance, I am afraid that it cannot be done except as it is paid for at so much a line. However, I shall try to get a newspaper man interested in the picture. Sincerely, (Himes) |
