George Himes to Theo Gegoux, August 6, 1919
August 6, 1919.
Mr. Theo Gegoux,
Route 5
Aurora,Oregon,
Dear Mr. Gegoux:
Five dollars enclosed to pay balance on portraits of my father and mother-all told 20.00, if I understood you alright.
By the way I saw your portrait of Mr. Bye, Oregon City, not long ago, it certainly is a fine portrait.  I regret to say that you did not do as well by any means in painting the Madam's portrait.  Of course there is a difference in people.
Just here your letter of yesterday came in.
As to Mr. D'Arcy.  I do not consider that you owe him anything.  The $5.00 he gave a good while ago, was a gift and he so understood it.
Come Wednesday or Thursday next, August 13th or (not later than the latter date) 14th.  I do not feel that you owe me anything.  If you think otherwise, you may name what you think you owe me, and what for.
Sincerely,
(Himes)
