September 20, 1913.
Mr. Theo. Gegoux,
Santa Monica, Cal.,
Dear Mr. Gegoux,
I now send you photos of Sylvester Pennoyer and Stephen J. McCormick.
The McCormick photo did not "materialize" quite as quickly as I anticipated.
That is, I had the original photograph, but I had no copy it, hence the delay.
Pennoyer was a compactly built man, about 5' 9', dark brown beard well mixed with gray; hair the same.
Color of eyes, steel blue -- almost black under provocation.
McCormick was a native of Ireland -- hair, jet black; eyes, the same.
Florid complexion -- not too much color, however. A giant in stature -- fully 6' tall -- perhaps 6' 1", and otherwise built to correspond.   Weight, 200 to 220 lbs.
Have not given up trying to secure photo of George P. Frank, who preceded Pennoyer, and A. M. Starr.
Found a daughter of Simon B. Marye, mayor in 1852 -- elected in 1852, special election in November to fill vacancy caused by resignation of A. C. Bonnell -- and she thinks some of her relatives may have a picture of her father.
She is trying to find out.  Expect to hear from her soon.
Sincerely yours,
(Himes)
Just received your last letter as I was ready, to mail this one.
