The Peach
Painted by Théodore Gégoux (1850-1931)

This painting is oil on board.  It measures 6.25 inches by 8.25 inches, and it was signed and dated 1922.  Mattie Eldriedge called upon Gégoux when he was Champoeg State Park caretaker and resident artist.  She brought him homemade bread, butter, milk, fruit, and, on one occasion, a large load of firewood.  For these kindnesses Gégoux painted The Peach for the Eldriedge family.
